To Our Beloved Little Angel
Mood:  hug me

Oscar, our guAPO (handsome grandson), was his name

Bringing bundles of joy to our lives was his game

Despite too short a time he was with us

He filled our hearts with love and caress.

------------------------------------------ O ----------------------------------------------

Dearest beloved little angel Oscar,

You will be greatly missed, but will never be forgotten.

Love always and forever,
Lolo Geo and Milola

LOST (But will be FOUND if you believe)
Topic: General

Here's a reaction expressed by a fan that I share very similar feelings about LOST (the TV series) except about the part of NOT believing in such things because I do believe that one day we will indeed meet again with our own "lost" loved ones:

"It was a pleasure and a privilege to be absorbed by a one hour drama for six years and to have been treated like an adult by the writers and producers. I have questions that will probably never be answered, as I am sure EVERY fan has, and lots of them. However, having recently lost my own father, the ending was both emotional and fulfilling for me personally. While I do not believe in such things, and hope we took care of our issues before he died, having one last chance to hug and talk to him would be just fine with me IF that is what awaits me. I hate to even mention it, but I think the show has changed my life a little bit and will affect my interactions with some people, knowing that the interpersonal relationships we share with each other are what make us human and what make life worth living. If you are intent on living a good life, that is done by sharing whatever good you are bringing to the world with those you love AND those with whom you come into otherwise incidental contact. Namaste, fellow Losties."

My Father's Gift
Topic: General

It took my Dad's death to direct me to pray the rosary daily.  Why I have never done it beforehand I cannot fathom especially even knowing all this time that the Son of God  died for me (and you) so that our sins will be forgiven.  Thank you, Dad for giving this gift of prayer to me!

The Joy of Being a Grandfather
Topic: General

I now have come to fully realize why my grandparents on my father's side wanted me to stay wth them for another year in Narvacan while my two brothers and sister moved to Manila with my parents.  It is the love and joy that a grandson brings to his grandparents like the way my grandson, Oscar, is doing now.

What A Turnaround!
Mood:  on fire
Topic: Stock Selection

Well, it's been over 3 years since I last posted about my stock investment dealings.  I pretty much stayed away from the stock market the past 2-1/2 years and resumed buying stocks again after the market crash back in November 2008 as I saw plenty of buying opportunities, i.e., cheap shares! Then there were more buying opportunities in March of this year when the stock market went even lower!!!

I loaded my stock portfolio with a number of real estate investment trust (REIT) and energy stocks. The REITs have performed much better for me than the energy stocks. I have since sold all my REIT and energy stocks except for a couple of laggards which are  currently in the negative (paper loss). However, the two are paying dividends at 7% or better which beats any bank savings rate or CDs by a wide margin and I'm keeping them until I sell them before the end of the year.

In the meantime, I've also been buying, selling, buying, and selling Alcoa which has netted me a handsome profit of $4000 so far.  However I blew a couple of calls on two stocks: Apple and Bank of America.  I sold them way too early and missed out on what would have been great profits.

In May, my stock interest turned to swine flu stocks and loaded up on my old friend NVAX.  I have also bought SVA, APT, AVII, and VICL.

To date, my portfolio has swung from a lowest unrealized paper loss of  -$13,457 on March 6, 2009 to a highest unrealized paper profit of +$38,654 on October 22, 2009!!!  Pretty good turnaround, eh?Laughing

1st Retirement Check Received!
Mood:  happy
Topic: Retirement
I was expecting to receive my first retirement check on July 2 (the first business day of the month), but none came.  However, when I checked my bank account online on Tuesday there was a big deposit.  I wasn't sure if that was for the payment of my annual leave balance or my first retirement check as the bank specified it only as a pending deposit.  This morning I rechecked my bank account and this time the deposit was specified as coming from Civil Service.  I'm now looking forward to the first business day of each month! Wink
